Shouting into an empty room - the 22/23 summer transfer window

Is it really that bad? We've a better 18-man match day squad than we had last season and we only just fell below the dotted line by a few points. I think a lot of fans have been fixated on the idea of this 'marquee striker option' which was never a necessity in our current situation. And for the past two weeks they have essentially been shouting into an empty room, hearing their own complaints reverberate around and ultimately echo back at them; resulting in this frenzied negativity that was always going to be expected come 11pm on September 1st, even if we got players in. My only disappointment from this window is the lack of right sided centre midfield options, Crooks on his day is a game changer with his effectiveness in the final third, but I always felt he lacked the mobility, agility and discipline to cement that spot as his own. I also didn't believe it was too difficult to upgrade on him, with Panutche Camara heading from Plymouth to ...

Past, Present and the hopeful future: A Story of Boro's impending 21/22 Season and the failings prior

The Past, Present and Hopeful Future A Story of Boro's impending 21/22 Season and the failings prior            Next season is one of great expectation, but could threaten to fizzle out fairly quickly and condemn us to another year midtable obscurity should we not hit the ground running. Most teams looking at a playoff/promotion push next year just have one or two pieces left to slot into their jigsaw puzzle; Boro however, are still sat taking theirs apart after forcing the wrong piece into the wrong slot for many years in the hope that it will look alright in the end.  Where did it all go wrong?     Many are quick to blame Gary Monk for his transfer dealings, which is certainly a turning point. However, the likes of Gibson and Bausor could have stepped in at any point; neither thought it was a poor decision to spend a reported £6.5m on a young Ashley Fletcher who only had 5 career league goals to his name at that point. Nor did any stop the ...

How Neil Warnock Won Me Over: And Other Football Purists Alike "Woodgate has been sacked, I think Warnock is coming in until the end of the season. Its the right move but we have to look into a younger manager for next season to build a project" This is what I said to my Dad over the phone on June 23rd 2020, following the latest disappointing defeat to Swansea. I was never a fan of Warnock, he seemed to be an enigma; the man who moaned week in week out, argued with officials like it was his favourite pastime or acting like a prime Liam Gallagher to the Sky cameras. He was fine at a distance, but I was certain I would never want him as manager of the club I loved; especially not within a season of Tony Pulis. I couldn't complain about the appointment, he is an experienced manager; someone who'd been in this situation before. This situation being a relegation battle, something I never came to terms with until I saw the teamsheet against Swansea. "Thats a league o...
